Intimate Gigs

About Us

Intimate Gigs is a not for profit organisation that promotes music and comedy across Scotland. We started out as a community based music project, the AC Music Club, in the Airdrie & Coatbridge area putting on gigs by local acts, supplying them with PA equipment and getting them press coverage. The idea was to be a collective where bands helped each otherthe Bellshill scene of the early 90's. Sadly, most bands were just interested in what was in it for them and a change of direction for the organisation was innevitable.

With most local bands and artists prefering to do pay to play gigs in Glasgow as Coatbridge and Airdrie just was not cool enough. Fortunatly many top acts didn't share their views and were more than delighted to come to the area to play for an eager and enthusiastic audience. The first of these gigs featured acts including Martin Stephenson (The Daintees), Sean Cannon (The Dubliners), Colin Vearncombe (Black) and Eleanor McEvoy. As new local acts started to emerge from the area, like The Beggar's Lake, Maeve O'Boyle, Adrianna, Ewan MacFarlane, Mike Smith and others, who embraced our ideals and passion for live music and Intimate Gigs in its current form was born.

Intimate Gigs still holds true to its founding principles and this has enables us to build a reputation with a wide range of diverse artists who return time after time to work with us. We only work with acts that share our values. With many venues charging new and young act to play or asking them to sell a certain amount of tickets, we strongly believe in providing a platform for new music, and established, that is beneficial for both parties. We don't do pay to play. We don't charge acts to play our venues. We do plough any profits we make into helping promote local acts and benefit local community groups and charities.

We help local acts who help themselves. If you support us then we will support you... simple as that. We don't do second chances. If we offer you a gig and you don't show up or cancel without any explanation, then that is it. We simply won't work with you... ever. Life is to short and if you can't be bothered then why should we.

We hope to see you at one of our gigs sometime. All are welcome but we have a few house rules.

1. No talking while the acts are performing. It is disrespectful to other gig goers and the artists.
2. No items with a sectarian of racist connotation are allowed at any of our shows.
3. Well... that's it really.

Keep music live and local. Without your support we would not exist. Thank you.
